This blend of Touriga Shiraz and Malbec is made from old-vine fruit, some of which is more than 90 years old. This remarkable vine age at Sevenhill contributes to producing wines of great flavour and intensity.
After above-average winter rains and drier conditions in spring, early summer was dry and warm, promoting good berry development. Very hot weather in January 2014 accelerated ripening and led to an earlier start to vintage in February. Heavy rain in mid-February caused little damage and the milder conditions that followed allowed ideal ripening conditions.
The three components of this wine were all picked separately when each variety was at optimum ripeness. The Shiraz and Malbec were fermented in open slate fermenters and the Touriga in stainless steel. After 18 months maturation in oak, the three batches were blended, filtered and bottled.
An easy-drinking blend of medium weight. Attractive fresh plum fruit is accompanied by a touch of earthiness and spice.
