Very Old Grenache vines – around 100 years of age – that yield a modest crop are the source of our Inigo Rosé.
While ample rain in winter and spring of 2016 laid a foundation for optimism, cooler temperatures in January and rain toward the end of the month slowed ripening in the wine regions of South Australia. It was only a burst of hot weather in early February that got things moving again. The 2017 harvest began at Sevenhill on March 1, with picking of Chardonnay at Lloyd’s Farm. Warm days and cool nights made for ideal vintage conditions during March and April, leading to outstanding fruit picked at optimum ripeness.
Holding on skins for 24 hours after crushing captures colour and depth of flavour from the 100% old-vine Grenache fruit.
The 2017 Inigo Rosé is bright, salmon pink, with fresh aromas of strawberries and raspberries. The crisp, fresh nature of the palate finishes with a hint of spice. A delightful wine to serve chilled in the warmer weather.
