2023 Inigo Riesling

Floral citrus notes on the nose herald this as Riesling from the Clare Valley. Has a slightly minerally palate character to complement the citrussy tang while the crisp and penetrating palate extends long. It also has a slightly chalky mouth feel adding balance to complement the vibrant crunchy fruit.

Vivacious and easy drinking riesling with a quintessential regional feel. Strong in its currency of lemon/lime citrus attributes, a crunch of green apple, some pink grapefruit zing and lifted, flirty floral notes in the mix. All of this just-so and well done. While not delivering huge complexity, there's enough textural nuance and energy here to find easy appeal among riesling enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes.

With fruit sourced from three discrete blocks, each fermented separately with different yeasts, we are seeing more evidence of what a fine vintage 2023 is in the Clare – a rare hat-trick. This young Riesling is a pale yellow. This is a gentle and rather elegant style of Riesling with limes and florals, notably white blossoms. Behind all this is a steely backing in a balanced style with fresh acidity – there is decent length as well. An attractive Clare Riesling, drink and enjoy any time from now and over the next eight years, likely even longer.

Really pale, youthful and bright in the glass. Aromas of lemon, lime, citrus blossom, wet stone and talc. The palate is tight, focused and punchy. Lashings of citrus, green melon and a slaty minerality drive the palate. Fine, delicate and long.
